For several years the U.S. House or Representatives has voted to extend making charitable donations from your IRA directly to a 501(c)3 organization. A 501(c)3 designation is IRS lingo for non-profit or charitable organization. At times this has been last minute or even retroactively.

This if passed, applies to the population that is over the age of 70 1/2.
